The Infanta Cristina University Hospital, located in Parla, has opened a specialized school for breast cancer patients to improve their quality of life and provide support throughout the oncological process.

This new initiative aims to create a learning environment where patients and their families can gain a deeper understanding of the disease, available treatments, and strategies to manage side effects. The program places special emphasis on self-care and the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits to encourage active participation in the recovery process.
The project features a multidisciplinary team from the hospital's Breast Unit, which will address the different stages of the condition in a comprehensive manner. Additionally, the school will incorporate the experience of individuals who have already overcome the disease, sharing their personal journeys to support those currently in similar situations.
The training offer includes workshops on a wide range of topics, from the reality of diagnostic tests and therapeutic options to aspects related to body image, such as reconstructive surgery and micropigmentation. Furthermore, sessions will cover post-surgical recovery, nutrition, physical exercise, emotional care, and oncological cosmetics.
With this project, the hospital reinforces its commitment to more humane, patient-centered healthcare, integrating clinical rigor with social and emotional support. The regional government has highlighted that this measure represents a significant step forward in oncological care and patient empowerment, providing them with greater autonomy in facing the disease.
