Security was the central focus of the latest Local Security Board meeting in Alcorcón. In response to recent neighborhood complaints and growing unease, Mayor Candelaria Testa has communicated actions and the status of three key areas: San Pedro Bautista park, the vicinity of Madrid Street, and the occupied buildings on Praga Street.
Regarding San Pedro Bautista park, following neighborhood complaints about coexistence issues, noise, and insecurity, as well as an assault on a resident, the mayor stated that police data does not indicate a structural criminal or coexistence problem. She confirmed relaying concerns to the National Police commissioner and clarified that some reported incidents did not align with reality, citing a supposed act of vandalism by minors that turned out to be a football game and a fight between adults.
Concerning the known drug house on Madrid Street, the mayor recalled that the City Council awaits final judicial authorization for eviction, as the eviction order is under appeal. Meanwhile, a special operation by Municipal and National Police maintains constant surveillance, leading to several arrests. Testa highlighted that measures implemented since February are yielding positive results and emphasized the coordination between both police forces.
On Praga Street, where the occupation of buildings owned by Sareb is a concern, Testa announced that the City Council is in contact with the property owner. Recent meetings with Sareb have been held to advance solutions, although the Council's direct intervention is limited due to private ownership. The mayor expressed confidence in achieving results in the coming weeks or months.
The municipal government aims to address residents' concerns by ensuring continuous monitoring of these cases by administrations and security forces.
