A resident of Galapagar has voiced strong disapproval regarding the proposal to establish a bullfighting museum in the municipality, funded by public money, urging authorities to prioritize urban improvements and quality of life for citizens.

In a letter to the editor, Sonia R. B., a resident of Galapagar, has expressed her astonishment and disapproval of the intention to create a museum dedicated to bullfighting. The citizen argues that, in the 21st century, it is “unheard of” to promote an activity she considers a “violent and sadistic scourge,” without prior public consultation and using public funds.

"It is unheard of to me that today, in the 21st century (not the 1st, as it seems we are with these kinds of actions), they want to impose (because there hasn't been a single popular consultation) and fund with everyone's money, a museum of a violent, sadistic scourge and representative of the most horrible torture that can be applied to a sentient being."

Sonia R. B.'s letter not only criticizes the museum proposal but also highlights the existence of “much more pressing needs” in the municipality. Among the priorities she mentions is the improvement of roads and pedestrian areas in main arteries such as Soberanía Street, where pedestrian safety is compromised by the poor condition of the sidewalks.
Furthermore, the Galapagar resident emphasizes the need to optimize street cleaning and the maintenance of waste containers, pointing out the dirt and bad odors present in various streets. She suggests taking nearby municipalities as an example, demonstrating that clean and orderly streets are not a “utopia.”
Finally, the letter proposes the creation of a bike lane as a measure to improve mobility, promote sustainability, and encourage healthy habits among the inhabitants of Galapagar. This initiative, according to the author, would contribute to reducing pollution and enhancing the quality of life in the municipality, which prides itself on being the gateway to the Sierra de Guadarrama.
