Soto del Real is preparing for its 2026 Patron Saint Festival, scheduled from July 30 to August 4. The City Council has designed a program aimed at maximum resident participation, featuring an increase in daytime activities and the introduction of a day entirely dedicated to inclusion.
The schedule, developed in consultation with residents and local groups (peñas), which have grown in number, includes daytime events such as solidarity paellas, DJ sets, water games, greased poles (cucañas), and foam parties. Traditional popular contests, like the potato omelet competition, will also continue, requiring free pre-registration, as will the gymkhana organized for the peñas.
Music will be a cornerstone of the celebration, with confirmed performances by artists including Soraya, Sofía Cristo, and Destrangis (an Estopa tribute band). Additionally, nationally renowned orchestras, cover bands, and DJs will perform, complementing traditional events like the fireworks display and the opening speech (pregón).
The local groups (peñas) will play a central role, with their own parade, the presentation of the 'Lechera de Honor' award, and the peña opening speech. The increase in their numbers and their active participation in meetings have been key to enriching the festive program.
A major innovation this year is the Inclusive Day on Sunday, August 2, designed to ensure that everyone, regardless of their needs, can enjoy the festival. It will feature workshops, cooperative games, water activities, and a quiet zone at the fairgrounds without noise or lights.
Solidarity initiatives will also have a prominent place, including bingo, benefit appetizers for the Red Cross and Cáritas, and the traditional 'patatada' to raise funds.
The Councilor for Culture, Events, and Festivals, Almudena Sánchez, highlighted the participatory nature of the festival and the goal of offering activities for all ages and interests, strengthening the daytime offerings to ensure the festive atmosphere is enjoyed 'from morning until night'.
The full six-day program combines tradition, music, gastronomy, and community spirit, with an increasing focus on accessibility and the integration of all residents into the celebration.
