National Police officers swiftly intervened to save the life of a woman who suffered a severe choking incident in a Madrid restaurant last January, successfully applying first aid maneuvers.

The incident occurred when police officers, who were performing their routine duties, were alerted by a restaurant employee. The worker reported that a female customer was experiencing severe breathing difficulties after choking on a piece of food.
Upon arrival, the officers found the woman seated in a chair, semi-conscious and displaying clear signs of asphyxiation. Her skin had a purplish hue, indicating a lack of oxygen, which highlighted the seriousness of her condition.
Given the urgency, the police immediately took action, combining the Heimlich maneuver with interscapular blows. This rapid and effective intervention allowed the affected individual to expel the object obstructing her airways, thus regaining her breath and saving her life.
