The current Minister of Health, Mónica García, has publicly declared her decision to compete in Más Madrid's primaries, aiming to lead the party's list for the presidency of the Community of Madrid in next year's elections.

The announcement was made during the III edition of the ‘La Madrileña’ street party, held last Saturday at the Paraíso park auditorium, located in the San Blas-Canillejas district of Madrid. At this event, the minister clearly articulated her intention to take on political leadership in the region.

"I want to be the president of the Community of Madrid, I want Ayuso to leave, I want her harmful policies to leave."

The leader of Más Madrid emphasized that achieving change in the Community of Madrid “is not impossible.” She highlighted that her background as a doctor and her current ministerial role have provided her with the necessary experience to address problems from their root, to “roll up her sleeves,” and to “take charge” of the situation.

"We have to govern Madrid, and after a long time, after much thought, I have made a decision, and if you accompany me and give me your support, I want to be the President of the Community of Madrid."

This decision is supported by the Sumar coalition, which Más Madrid is part of at the national level. In the regional elections on May 28, 2023, with the minister as a candidate, Más Madrid secured 27 seats, matching the PSOE in representation but surpassing them in votes, thus consolidating its position as the second political force in the Assembly of Madrid.
