To commemorate Book Day, Matadero Madrid and Casa del Lector have joined forces to present 'Meet & Read. Shared Reading Party'. This event, taking place between 7 PM and 10 PM in Plaza Matadero, invites participants to bring their own book to immerse themselves in a group reading experience.
The space will be specially equipped with grass, hammocks, and tables, creating a relaxed environment for attendees to read and converse, both with their companions and with other reading enthusiasts. The initiative is supported by Penguin Random House and Escuela de Escritores, with Altamarea bookstore acting as the official vendor.
Those registered through the websites of Matadero Madrid or Casa del Lector will be welcomed with a soundscape designed by composer Luis Miguel Cobo, who has created different musical atmospheres to complement the session's reading rhythms. Journalist and cultural popularizer Fernando Bonete, known for his social media presence as @en_bookle, will facilitate the gathering, alternating reading moments with dialogues and exchanges about the texts.
“"'Meet & Read' is an invitation to transform Plaza Matadero into a large literary meadow where you can sit and read with friends, neighbors, or those you haven't met yet. It's a literary picnic for reading and conversing."
José Luis Romo, artistic director of Matadero Madrid, emphasized that the proposal aims to turn the space into a meeting point centered around books. The evening is designed to extend until 10 PM, offering a unique opportunity to celebrate reading in a community setting.
