The president of the Community of Madrid has urged VOX to debate its proposal to revoke Spanish nationality from migrants convicted of belonging to criminal organizations in the Congress of Deputies, considering it a state competence.

The regional leader stated that the Community of Madrid lacks legislative capacity on this matter, encouraging the party to take the discussion to the Cortes Generales, the appropriate forum for addressing such reforms.
This reaction follows VOX's registration of a Non-Legislative Proposal (PNL) in the Madrid Assembly. This initiative aims to urge the regional government to request legal reforms from the central government regarding nationality and immigration, including the loss of acquired nationality in cases of final conviction for belonging to criminal organizations.

"We will not waste anyone's time. The first thing a criminal must do is serve their sentence."

The Popular Party, which holds an absolute majority in the Assembly, has announced it will vote against this proposal. Meanwhile, the VOX spokesperson in the regional Chamber defended the initiative as a way to pressure the central government to implement this measure, warning that a vote against it could be interpreted as a lack of willingness to apply it.
