The Community of Madrid has allocated 439,522 euros for maintenance and improvement works at the Las Ventas Bullring, ensuring its optimal condition for the 2026 San Isidro Fair, which is set to begin on May 8.

This investment is part of an ongoing monitoring and review plan designed to guarantee the safety of the nearly 600,000 attendees who visit the Isidril cycle annually. The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Interior, is based on periodic and exhaustive technical inspections of the building.
The Las Ventas Bullring, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), is the third most frequented meeting point in the capital, surpassed only by the Santiago Bernabéu and Riyadh Air Metropolitano football stadiums. The primary goal is to ensure the facilities are in optimal condition for the year's most important bullfighting event.
These preventive actions allow for the anticipation of potential risks and the planning of necessary interventions before the start of each season at the world's leading bullring. This underscores the regional Government's commitment to maintaining the Monumental de Las Ventas as an international benchmark in bullfighting.
In recent months, various priority actions have been completed, focusing on structural safety, material conservation, and the improvement of key areas. These include the partial replacement of pavements on access stairs to lower and upper tier galleries, while respecting the traditional elements of the venue.
Currently, a series of interventions are nearing completion, such as the renovation of walls and ceilings in upper tier galleries, structural sanitation of walls, and reinforcement of constructive elements. The slaughterhouse and its accesses have also been reconfigured to improve functionality and preserve other areas of the enclosure.
In addition to these immediate improvements, the Community of Madrid has approved a more ambitious plan for a comprehensive reform and modernization of Las Ventas, with a projected investment of over 40 million euros, in anticipation of its centenary celebration in 2031.
