The event, organized by the Department of Democratic Memory, is part of the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance and Tribute to all Victims. The gathering will serve to present the biographies of 18 women and 18 men who had ties to the municipality, recalling their life stories.
Family members and descendants of the victims will attend, along with representatives from entities such as the Municipal Memory Board and Memory Donors. The day will conclude with a musical performance by the Coro Joven (Youth Choir).
This event takes place on the 90th anniversary of the start of the conflict and the entry of the rebel troops into Getafe on November 4, 1936.
Additionally, the Month of Memory will begin with the opening of the photographic exhibition ‘The photographs of General Walter and the International Brigades’, in collaboration with the Association of Friends of the International Brigades. The exhibition will be open throughout November at the Las Margaritas Civic Center.
Guided tours of the exhibition will be offered on November 4th, 12th, and 19th at 6:00 PM. The documentary exhibition addresses the actions of international units in November 1936 during the combat in the Cerro de los Ángeles sector, linking local history with the events following the defense of Madrid.
