The Popular Party of Alcorcón has submitted a motion to the Municipal Plenary demanding the immediate suspension of the waste fee for the 2026 fiscal year and the refund of amounts unduly charged to residents, citing serious technical and legal deficiencies.

The waste fee has generated controversy in various municipalities, and Alcorcón is no exception. Both the local Government and the opposition have expressed their positions on the matter, with the Popular Party and Vox requesting the refund of payments made.
The motion presented by the Popular Party not only seeks the suspension of the tax for 2026 but also the reimbursement of amounts corresponding to 2025 and 2026. Furthermore, the political group claims that the application of the fee is unfair due to “serious technical and legal deficiencies,” particularly affecting sectors such as commercial galleries.

"Residents cannot be required to pay a fee based on incorrect data and without due guarantees of transparency and legality. The City Council must act immediately and stop looking the other way while residents pay the consequences of poor management. Many residents are facing errors in their bills and enduring long queues to file complaints at the municipal registry. It is time to rectify, refund what has been unduly charged, and do things properly."

For its part, the local Government, through Mayor Candelaria Testa, has indicated that the suspension of the ordinance is being evaluated to eliminate the waste fee in 2026. Although the mayor acknowledged the difficulty of this measure a week ago, the intention is to move forward to “alleviate the tax burden on families and businesses in the city” and ensure “legal and economic security, and prudence.” Further communications from the Executive are expected shortly.
