This restructuring follows the departure of former Más Madrid spokesperson Miguel Fuentes from the local executive structure, stemming from his expulsion from the party due to internal crisis. One of the decrees signed by the mayor establishes the new Government areas and the responsibilities assigned to each council member.
Andrés Correa takes on Economy, Finance, European Funds, Citizen Participation, and Citizen Services. Gema García retains Presidency, Communication, Culture, Interculturality, and Commerce. Bruno Garrido will lead Urban and Industrial Development, Municipal Heritage, and Public Works, and will serve as secretary of the Local Government Board. Gema Isabel Torres will be responsible for Street Cleaning, Waste Collection, Parks and Gardens, Environment, and General Services.
Nerea Ruiz-Roso assumes Human Resources, Health, Public Health, and Street Vending. María Curiel will be in charge of Social Welfare and Seniors. Alberto Rico will lead Maintenance and Municipal Buildings, New Technologies, and Animal Welfare.
Meanwhile, Marina Morcillo will take over the portfolios of Youth, Equality, Local Development, Housing, and Consumption, areas previously held by Miguel Fuentes. Javier González will be responsible for Sustainable Mobility, Sports, Transport, Migration, and Coexistence, responsibilities also held by Fuentes. Isabel Ávila retains Education, Childhood, Adolescence, Inclusion, and Agenda 2030.
The delegation for Ecological Transition, previously under Miguel Fuentes' responsibility, is not included in the current organizational chart and has been relegated to an administrative unit within Gema Isabel Torres's area.
Additionally, the mayor has appointed the new deputy mayors: Andrés Correa (first deputy), Gema García (second), Bruno Garrido (third), and Gema Isabel Torres (fourth). This decree, signed on May 26th, consolidates a core government group without any Más Madrid council members, despite Miguel Fuentes having been the third deputy mayor until his expulsion.
The official justification for these changes is to "guarantee the proper functioning of administrative activity, institutional continuity, and the effective management of municipal affairs." The legislative term's evolution in Parla has seen the executive, initially composed of PSOE, Podemos, and Más Madrid, gradually reduce its support base, with Podemos leaving previously and now this reconfiguration following Fuentes' expulsion.
