Thanks to this partnership, over 40 minors will benefit from the La Fortuna Socio-Sports Basketball School, which has become a key educational and social resource in Leganés. The program ensures participation for all children, regardless of their economic situation or abilities, through a system of scholarships and partial scholarships funded by Westfield Parquesur.
“"We must highlight the value of this agreement, which reflects our city's commitment to inclusion and the well-being of Leganés' youngest residents."
The Mayor of Leganés, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, emphasized the importance of this initiative, highlighting how the synergy between the Real Madrid Foundation, Westfield Parquesur, and the city council promotes sports camps that offer vulnerable youth the opportunity to grow and learn. He stressed that the agreement not only facilitates access to sports activities but also instills essential values such as effort, teamwork, and solidarity, which are fundamental for shaping responsible citizens.
“"This collaboration reaffirms that sport can change lives; and that, united, we can continue to build a stronger, more inclusive, and supportive community."
For his part, Felipe Reyes, Real Madrid ambassador and former basketball player, highlighted the transformative power of sport and the ability of unity to build a more robust and inclusive community. The school, aimed at minors aged 8 to 17, offers two weekly sessions at the La Fortuna Municipal Sports Center, provided by the City Council, offering a safe and educational environment.
The Real Madrid Foundation's methodology, called 'For a REAL Education: Values and Sport,' integrates technical training with the teaching of values such as respect, equality, and teamwork. This approach not only improves sports skills but also promotes the comprehensive development of participants and strengthens the social fabric of the neighborhood.
