The popular political group has expressed its dissatisfaction with Mayor Javier Ayala and his team, who voted against the proposal. According to the City Council, the refusal is due to the increase in supply prices, as they await a more favorable time to carry out the works. Additionally, municipal sources have indicated that paving is usually done in August to minimize inconvenience to residents.
The PP's initiative sought immediate intervention on numerous streets in Fuenlabrada that show significant deterioration, with potholes and sinkholes that compromise road safety. However, the consistory maintains that a pothole repair plan has already been implemented, fixing approximately 200 problematic spots.
“"These are not isolated cases, but a widespread problem throughout the city. We are talking about generalized deterioration in all neighborhoods of Fuenlabrada, a direct consequence of years without maintenance or planning."
The Popular Party considers it “incomprehensible” that the municipal government has rejected a measure that responds to a growing demand from citizens. They have criticized that this situation occurs while residents bear a high tax burden, which, in their opinion, does not translate into adequate investment in basic infrastructure.
For the PP, the stance of Ayala's government demonstrates a lack of priorities and poor management. They have announced that they will continue to demand the repair of sidewalks and the paving of the city. For its part, the City Council has indicated that an investment of nearly one million euros is planned for paving, exceeding the 800,000 euros allocated in the previous period.
