The Fuenlabrada City Council has awarded a new contract for its home meal delivery service, which surpassed 100,000 meals delivered last year, and will now offer more options and expand its coverage to seniors, people with disabilities, and vulnerable families.

The Local Government Board has formalized the awarding of the new contract for this program, aimed at seniors, individuals with disabilities, and vulnerable families. The service has proven its effectiveness by distributing over 100,000 meals during the past year.
The cost per menu has been set at 6.72 euros, while the combined price for lunch and dinner will be 10.18 euros. A key innovation for this year is the introduction of greater flexibility, allowing users to choose from different menu types and, within each, select various dishes according to their preferences or needs.
This program has seen significant growth, increasing from serving 180 people in 2023 to an anticipated 248 beneficiaries by 2025, representing a 38% increase. Currently, approximately 160 people benefit from this service, receiving over 5,000 meals monthly, which include options for lunch, dinner, or both.

"The objective is to guarantee food for all people who have difficulties preparing food or leaving home to buy groceries."

Raúl Hernández · Councillor for Social Welfare
The service, established in 2020 due to the COVID-19 lockdown to ensure food for the vulnerable population, has distributed over 300,000 meals since its implementation. The Councillor for Social Welfare, Raúl Hernández, emphasized that this initiative complements and enhances the municipal services offered to support independent living at home, such as home assistance and telecare.
