The selection process has concluded with the choice of various citizen initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in the town's different neighborhoods. Out of the initial 79 proposals, 56% were deemed viable after assessing their budget, municipal competence, and overall feasibility.
The actions will be distributed geographically: 41% will be allocated to city-wide projects, 25% to Ensanche Sur, 18% to the Southwest zone, and 15% to the Old Town. The most voted initiative overall will be the installation of shade areas in children's playgrounds, with an investment of 400,000 euros.
In the Old Town, an inclusive area for motorhomes will be created on Viena street, with a budget of 150,000 euros. In Ensanche Sur, 80,000 euros will be allocated to a new play library, along with improvements to access and lighting of sports courts for a total of 70,000 euros.
Other actions include the elevation of pedestrian crossings on Avenida del Parque de Lisboa (North District) with 100,000 euros, and the rehabilitation of the park on Palmeras street and maintenance of green areas in the Southwest district, with 150,000 euros.
“"Active listening is a fundamental pillar in our Government's actions, and this commitment is demonstrated with facts and budget: we are talking about one million euros, meaning 10% of the entire municipal investment of the 2026 Municipal Budget that the citizens have decided."
Mayor Candelaria Testa highlighted the importance of citizen involvement, emphasizing that this million euros represents 10% of the total municipal investment decided by the citizens. For her part, the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Sonia López, described the experience as a "qualitative leap" towards urban management based on transparency and participation.
