The Soto del Real City Council has launched a new edition of the Tree of the Year contest, an initiative inviting residents to nominate the most unique trees in the municipality between May 26 and June 9.

The contest aims to strengthen the bond between citizens and the natural environment, recognizing trees that are part of the memory and identity of Soto del Real. Participation is open to all registered residents, who may nominate up to four specimens, whether located on public or private land.
The selection process will take place through a popular vote on Facebook, scheduled between June 10 and 17. The tree receiving the highest number of likes will be declared the winner. This dynamic seeks to encourage community involvement in a simple and accessible way for all residents.

"This contest helps us continue to highlight the natural heritage of Soto del Real in a close and participatory way. Trees are part of our identity, and this initiative allows neighbors to actively get involved in their recognition and conservation."

The initiative is supported by various local businesses, which are contributing prizes for both the nominators of the winning tree and the participants in the voting process. On June 18, additional raffles will be held among citizens who submitted nominations or participated in the online vote, thereby strengthening the municipality's business and social fabric.
