Energy efficiency renovation works at the Carlos Saura Municipal Theater, a key cultural infrastructure in the Sierra de Guadarrama region, have concluded. This action is part of the Sustainable Tourism Plan for Destinations of the Sierra de Guadarrama Development Association – Adesgam (PSTD-Adesgam), which is included in the “Territorial Plan of the Community of Madrid 2021”. It is financed by European Union Funds-Next Generation EU, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
The intervention has completely transformed the public building's energy performance, achieving over a 30% saving in non-renewable primary energy consumption. The old cooling plant was dismantled and replaced with state-of-the-art thermal and photovoltaic equipment, including a thermal installation (Aerothermal), a photovoltaic installation, and electrical adaptation.
As a primary resource for the cultural life of Collado Mediano and the Sierra de Guadarrama destination, and being part of the Network of Theaters of the Community of Madrid, the Carlos Saura Municipal Theater is now positioned as a benchmark for sustainability and responsible use of renewable energies in the Sierra de Guadarrama. All works and waste treatment respected the principle of «do no significant harm to the environment» (DNSH), rigorously complying with the requirements of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
