The Tres Cantos City Council has launched a new edition of its Energy Efficiency Plan, a municipal aid program aimed at improving the energy performance of homes. This year, the budget allocation amounts to 80,000 euros, a ten thousand euro increase from the previous call, equally divided between private homes (40,000 euros) and property owner communities (40,000 euros).
The Department of Environmental Management is responsible for administering these grants, which respond to the growing concern among households to reduce their energy bills and adopt more sustainable solutions. The councilor in charge of the area, Jesús Ruiz, highlighted the municipality's commitment to sustainability and its support for citizens to make improvements that reduce energy consumption, lower emissions, and promote a more efficient and environmentally friendly city model.
Eligible actions for private homes include replacing windows and glass doors with more thermally efficient ones, improving the general insulation of the dwelling, and installing solar panels (photovoltaic and thermal) and aerothermal systems. Grants also cover improvements such as replacing traditional lighting with LEDs, installing smart lighting control systems, upgrading old boilers to more efficient equipment, and installing charging points for electric vehicles.
For property owner communities, the 40,000 euros in aid are designated for improvements to the building's thermal envelope, the installation of renewable energy sources, and the renovation of lighting in common areas like entrances and garages. The plan also includes the creation or improvement of spaces for storing bicycles and other personal mobility vehicles.
The amount of aid can cover up to 80% of the action's cost, with a maximum limit of 7,000 euros per applicant. The subsidized works must have been executed between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026.
The deadline to apply for these grants is August 31st, and applications must be submitted exclusively online through the Electronic Office of the Tres Cantos City Council. All detailed information regarding requirements, deadlines, and eligible actions is available on the municipal website.
