Although the official agenda for the Pontiff's visit, scheduled from June 6 to 12, has not yet been finalized, Leo XIV announced his presence in Cibeles through a message. This message was addressed to attendees of the IV Resurrection Festival, held last Saturday to celebrate Easter, and was read by the Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, José Cobo.
“"As the time approaches for us to meet in Cibeles, I ask you: do not let the present pass you by; pray, truly seek Christ; do not settle for the minimum, because life, with Christ, is worth living."
The Pope also stated that he prays for the participants and looks forward to seeing them at the event. In his message, the Pontiff emphasized the need for "young people who are not ashamed of the Gospel, communities that radiate hope, witnesses capable of making the Lord present in every environment, ignited lives that make the beauty of faith visible."
Furthermore, Leo XIV reminded that "evangelization does not arise, first and foremost, from strategies, but from hearts transformed by the Risen Lord." He urged participants to sing "a new song, that renews the Church and brings the light of the Risen One to the world," and asked that "the very existence of Christians become a concert, a great harmony of faith, unity, communion, and charity, capable of proclaiming to the world that Christ lives."
Finally, the Pope invoked the memory of the martyrs to encourage the faithful to engage in the present, urging them to let "Christ pass through their streets again" and for "the truth of the Gospel to open those tombs into which so many hearts have turned."
