Jorge Rodrigo, Minister of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid, has rejected claims of incidents in homes around Conde de Casal due to the construction of the new interchange and the expansion of Metro Line 11. Speaking from Boadilla del Monte, he urged against unnecessary alarm, reaffirming that the Ministry has no record of damage to properties near the construction sites.
"We have no record of any incidents in any of the surrounding homes," stated the minister. He urged citizens who believe they have an issue to contact the technical services of the Directorate General of Infrastructure, the information booth, or the Ministry itself to detail the nature of the problem, its exact location, and when it occurred.
Rodrigo referenced a recently circulated photograph of a supposed incident but stressed that the property involved and the identity of the affected person are unknown. He reiterated that when such a problem is identified, technicians from the Directorate General of Infrastructure contact the families to analyze it with "the utmost technical rigor" and verify any cause-and-effect link with the works.
The minister defended that both the Conde de Casal interchange and the expansion of Line 11 are "positive actions for the city and for all Madrileños," and requested that "alarmism, when possibly unfounded," not be fueled regarding the project.
"We are complying with the execution of the works and the schedules authorized by the Madrid City Council," emphasized Rodrigo, adding that the work is progressing "at a good pace" and that the Community strives to carry it out "in the best possible way" to complete it as soon as possible and minimize inconvenience to residents.
He acknowledged that the works cause significant inconvenience due to noise and impact on mobility and public transport, but argued that once completed, they will substantially improve the quality of life for residents, particularly in the Retiro district. He apologized for the months of inconvenience during the infrastructure's execution and appealed for residents' patience, noting that traffic reordering will benefit circulation.
Rodrigo also assured that there is no rush to complete the works, although he stressed the intention to finish them as soon as possible to reduce resident discomfort. He dismissed the creation of a monitoring commission, deeming it inappropriate at this time.
