The Community of Madrid has activated the Emergency and Immediate Response Team (ERICAM) to assist in rescue operations following the earthquake registered in Venezuela.

The operation, which departed this Thursday from the Las Rozas Central Fire Station, consists of 40 professionals. The team includes rescue specialists for collapsed structures and medical staff from SUMMA 112, supported by four dogs from the Canine Unit.
The contingent moved to the Torrejón de Ardoz airbase to begin their journey to the affected country. This international mission also includes members of the UME and specialists from the Madrid City Council Fire Department.
ERICAM holds the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) certification granted by the UN in 2011. Their primary tasks involve structural assessment of buildings, creating access points to reach victims, and providing emergency medical treatment.
Since its creation two decades ago, the team has participated in various international emergencies, including the earthquakes in Haiti (2010), Lorca (2011), and Ecuador (2016), as well as supporting forest fire suppression efforts in Portugal in 2017.
