The race, officially known as the 48th Zurich Rock 'n' Roll Running Series Madrid, will maintain its three usual formats: marathon, half marathon, and 10 kilometers. This structure allows for the participation of both experienced athletes and amateur runners.
“"It's not just another race, it's Madrid."
The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, highlighted the event's importance as a "great window" for the city's international projection. Over 10,000 registered participants come from abroad, representing more than 110 countries, and a quarter of the runners arrive from other autonomous communities, underscoring its national reach.
The organization also emphasized the marathon's considerable economic impact. According to a report by the European University, the 2025 edition generated 70.8 million euros in the capital, an increase of 4.9 million from the previous year. Furthermore, it attracted over 88,000 visitors and contributed 33 million euros in added value.
The study revealed that the average expenditure of national runners was 250 euros, while international participants spent 573 euros. For every euro invested in the event, a return of 22.1 euros was obtained. Approximately 53 percent of the runners were from outside the Community of Madrid.
Martínez-Almeida stressed the emotional connection of the race with the city, noting that the route through "the most beautiful and charming corners of Madrid" offers a unique opportunity to showcase the capital to the world.
