The Community of Madrid will allocate 13.2 million euros for the renovation of 163 kilometers of Metro tracks and the maintenance of its train fleet.

The Governing Council has approved two contracts to ensure the optimal condition of the subway network. An investment exceeding 10 million euros will be dedicated to purchasing 9,050 rail bars, equivalent to 162.9 kilometers, to replace elements worn out by intense rail traffic.
This renovation is part of the preventive maintenance that Metro carries out continuously. The work is performed during nighttime hours, when the service is closed to the public, thus not affecting circulation or passenger travel.
The rail is an essential component that supports the passage of trains, ensures their guidance, and contributes to safety and comfort. Its periodic replacement is crucial for maintaining the network's maximum reliability standards and extending the lifespan of the facilities. The Madrid Metro network has 294 kilometers of double track and almost 19 kilometers of single track.
Additionally, 3.2 million euros will be invested in the maintenance of the rolling stock, through the supply of exclusive spare parts for the trains. This contract, with a 15-month execution period, will ensure the fleet's reliability, availability, and safety.
These actions aim to provide safe, modern, and high-quality public transport to the more than 715 million passengers who use the Madrid subway annually.
