Tennis courts 4, 5, and 6 have undergone a complete renovation, including a new playing surface designed to simulate clay court characteristics. This project, representing a municipal investment of 118,506 euros, aims to enhance the user experience.
The renovated facilities will be available to the public starting Saturday, August 29. Users can book courts through the Sports website of the Tres Cantos City Council or via the Cronos application.
The new surface is a synthetic turf carpet with ceramic infill, classified by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as Category 1 (slow court). This surface promotes a high and slow ball bounce, allowing for longer rallies and greater predictability. It also requires less maintenance than traditional clay, needs no daily watering, and recovers faster after rain, offering increased comfort.
The work at the Embarcaciones Sports Center is completed with the launch of Tres Cantos' first pickleball court. This new facility expands the municipal options for racket sports, responding to the growing local interest in this modality, known for its ease of learning and suitability for various ages and skill levels.
Pickleball is played on a court measuring 13.41 meters long by 6.10 meters wide, using a perforated plastic ball and a net similar to tennis. The sport can be played individually or in pairs.
Both the renovated tennis courts and the new pickleball facility will be operational from August 29. With these improvements, the municipality enhances and modernizes its racket sports offerings at the Embarcaciones Sports Center, coinciding with the start of the new sports season.
