The Metro network of the Community of Madrid includes a total of 217 stations offering accessible routes between the surface and the platforms. Additionally, the network features 581 elevators distributed throughout its stops.
An example of these adaptations can be found at the Ciudad Lineal station, on line 5. This station, inaugurated in 1964, was visited today by the Minister of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo. It is equipped with three elevators: one connects the surface to the main lobby, while the other two lead directly to the boarding areas. These facilities allow individuals with reduced mobility, as well as those traveling with strollers or luggage, to move around without using stairs.
The Ciudad Lineal station serves the neighborhoods of Pueblo Nuevo and Quintana, handling over 22,000 daily passengers.
“"Accessibility is an essential element in public transport and helps ensure that all people can use the Metro network with adequate autonomy and safety."
During his visit, Rodrigo emphasized the importance of accessibility in public transport to guarantee the autonomy and safety of all users.
