The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has greenlit the tender for this contract, which is part of a Framework Agreement for supply across the entire National Health System. This initiative underscores the commitment of Madrid's public health system to disease prevention in young people.
Of the total doses acquired, 56,000 are for the quadrivalent vaccine, which targets measles, rubella, mumps, and chickenpox. These will be administered according to the Lifelong Vaccination Schedule of the Ministry of Health, which includes immunization guidelines for both childhood and adulthood.
Vaccination is the most effective preventive measure for the healthy population to control and even eliminate the transmission of certain diseases, and it is also a fundamental tool for specific groups due to their pre-existing health conditions.
The Community of Madrid emphasizes the importance of vaccination as a key strategy for protecting children against vaccine-preventable diseases. It urges the completion of vaccination schedules with the necessary doses and their administration within the established timelines of the current calendar, which is updated annually to incorporate available scientific evidence and immunization innovations.
