The highest representative of the Madrid Executive has expressed her concern about the situation experienced in Mexico, where, according to her statements, she felt unprotected. This circumstance forced her to interrupt her scheduled activities to ensure the safety of her work team.
The leader has directly pointed to the presidency of Mexico for an alleged hostile attitude during her stay. She stated that, from the Mexican presidential morning program, "insults and offenses" were continuously broadcast. The interruption of her official agenda was justified by the fear of possible reprisals against Mexican citizens with whom she was meeting, as, according to the president, a list with the names of her interlocutors was requested.
“"Anything could have happened to us anywhere."
The president revealed that her team had to "cut and disappear" to avoid risks, given the alleged absence of support from the Spanish diplomatic representation. She emphasized that, without external protection and their own means, they would have faced problems without anyone taking responsibility for their integrity.
Beyond the security incidents, the Madrid president has drawn a parallel between the political situation in Mexico and that in Spain. She warned of an "institutional collapse" experienced in the North American country over the last six years, which she considers "identical" to the path that, in her opinion, the Spanish Government is currently following.
In this context, she criticized what she describes as an "enormous institutional decay" affecting bodies such as the Prosecutor's Office, State operations, and the use of public media. For the president, the actions of the Mexican political party and its leader bear an "enormous similarity" to the Spanish political drift, calling the situation "truly sad".
