The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Inma Sanz and other council members, has overseen the completion of the works. The intervention, finished before the traditional Fiestas del Carmen, underscores the municipal government's priority to enhance public spaces, considered vital hubs for citizen gatherings.
The project aimed to boost the square as a place for leisure and community interaction by reorganizing its interior spaces and renewing the paving, street furniture, lighting, and green areas. Fourteen new trees and numerous shrubs have been planted to enhance the vegetation cover.

Among the new features is a modern ornamental fountain with vertical jets, designed with a contemporary aesthetic and a granite perimeter that doubles as a bench. Bronze sculptural elements from the previous fountain, along with the statue of actress Loreto Prado, have been preserved and relocated. The music bandstand has also been moved and refurbished.
The children's play area has been redesigned into three distinct zones with various games, surrounded by greenery for enhanced comfort and safety. The paving combines tiles and cobblestones, evoking historical patterns with grey and toasted tones. Lighting has been updated with LED technology for improved energy efficiency.
Since 2019, the Area of Works and Equipment has rehabilitated 43 squares across the city, with three more currently undergoing renovation. Work is also scheduled to begin soon on other significant squares in the capital.
