Vox considers that the PP's decision to remove Víctor Acosta from the position of second deputy mayor and councilor for Strategic and European Projects weakens institutional credibility and disregards the pact signed in June 2023. Despite considering the agreement broken, the party assures it will continue working for the residents of Alcalá de Henares in its areas of responsibility, with Acosta remaining president of District II and the Sports City, and other councilors maintaining their respective duties.
The party interprets the local government's modification as political retaliation and a deliberate attempt to weaken Vox for demanding transparency. According to Acosta, this situation is the culmination of a crisis that began in May 2025 when the PP unilaterally proposed a budget modification of 68 million euros through an urgent procedure, without consulting its partner and with clear electoral aims. Vox voted against this modification, arguing that citizens elected them to participate in decisions about public funds, not to sign blank checks.
The conflict, according to Vox, stems from the PP's lack of transparency regarding the accounts of the Autonomous Body Municipal Sports City (CDM), chaired by Acosta. They accuse the 'popular' party of repeatedly refusing to provide access to the entity's accounting information.
“"Councilors are here to work for the residents, improving security, driving investments, and resolving the real problems of the citizens, not to investigate or assume functions that belong to control bodies."
For their part, the deputy municipal spokesperson for the PP, Vicente Pérez, responded that the economic and budgetary activity of Alcalá de Henares is subject to permanent controls through legally established oversight mechanisms. He insisted that qualified officials and independent bodies exist to guarantee legality and transparency, and that attempting to replace technical work with constant political debates does not help solve the problems of Alcalá's residents.
Pérez concluded that the municipal government will continue to focus on management and project execution, while 'some dedicate their time to generating political noise'.
