The Department of Public Works and Urban Maintenance of the City Council of Alcalá de Henares has purchased one hundred anti-heatstroke wristbands. These devices will soon be distributed among the staff of the Municipal Services Park.
This measure is part of the municipal strategy to prevent thermal stress. The Consistory already collaborates with Valoriza, the street cleaning concessionaire, and the Japanese technology firm Biodata Bank, on a similar system of smart wristbands for street sweepers. These devices monitor body temperature in real-time using a heat flow sensor and issue alerts for risky situations, allowing for measures such as breaks or shift reorganizations.
The acquisition of these one hundred new wristbands extends protection to other municipal groups exposed to high temperatures, such as those in the Municipal Services Park.
