The City Council, in collaboration with the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients (AFAMSO), has organized a series of events including a march starting at 10:00 AM from the Ferrer i Guardia Senior Center to the Plaza de la Constitución. This event aims to raise visibility for the disease and support patients and their families.
Other notable activities include the screening of the film Cosas que no olvidaré this afternoon at 6:00 PM at the Aitana Sánchez Gijón Theater. Additionally, the facade of the Espacio Joven will be illuminated in purple, the symbolic color for Alzheimer's, on the night of September 21st.
“"It is important to carry out these support activities so that citizens know the available resources, the disease gains visibility, and families feel accompanied."
The march, which typically draws around a hundred participants, will traverse several central streets: Bartes, Escorial, Luis Sauquillo, crossing the bridge on Grecia street, continuing along Hungría until reaching the City Hall square.
AFAMSO has put solidarity t-shirts on sale for 5 euros at their headquarters located at C/ Pinto, 10, where further information can also be obtained. The association, which maintains a collaboration agreement with the City Council for the use of spaces and activity subsidies, has professionals in psychology, social work, and therapy, in addition to offering information, guidance, psycho-stimulation, and self-help groups for caregivers.
