The San Fernando de Henares City Council has presented the news and data for the return to classes, which will begin next Monday, September 7. The Children's Houses, Infant Schools, and the seven public primary schools will open their doors, followed a day later by the three secondary institutes. The Municipal School of Music and Dance ‘Joaquín de Luz’ will also commence its activities.
Mayor Javier Corpa and Education Councilor Carolina Gómez highlighted the work carried out during the summer as part of the Municipal Plan for the Improvement and Maintenance of Educational Centers. These works, representing an investment of over 350,000 euros, include painting, installation of vinyl wall coverings and mosquito nets, various repairs, and roof work.
The plan includes future investments of more than 750,000 euros for the renovation of doors, windows, and lighting, as well as interventions in courtyards. Additionally, 4.4 million euros will be allocated to air conditioning, solar panel installation, and the renovation of sports courts in all public schools.
The mayor emphasized the municipal commitment to public education, stating that investment will be made in air conditioning, a regional responsibility that the council will undertake, and that the Regional Government will continue to be urged to carry out pending structural works.
In total, 4,098 children and young people aged between 0 and 16 are enrolled in the town's educational centers. The council is reinforcing its support for families with reconciliation programs such as Funny School and Cole Abierto, extracurricular activities, urban camps, and scholarships to facilitate access to these services regardless of economic situation.
The Municipal Plan for Aid to Families for the Acquisition of School Supplies will also be launched, with an application period from September 17 to 30, aimed at students from early childhood education to university level.
In parallel, a Special Plan for Cleaning and Gardening is being developed, which includes cleaning access points, classrooms, and common areas, as well as pruning and tree maintenance work.
Javier Corpa reaffirmed the City Council's commitment to public, inclusive, and quality education, emphasizing that "defending public education is defending the future of San Fernando" and thanking the involvement of families, AMPAs, management teams, and teachers.
