The Gauss Mathematics Circle in Torrejón de Ardoz opens its doors this October for students from Guadalajara and the Henares Corridor, ranging from 4th grade of Primary to 2nd grade of ESO. The initiative, which is free, is backed by the Small Mathematics Institute (PIM) of ICMAT and the Institute of Interdisciplinary Mathematics (IMI) of the Complutense University of Madrid.

This initiative aims to provide a dedicated space for students passionate about solving mathematical problems, complementing their classroom learning. The Gauss Mathematics Circle is linked to the Small Mathematics Institute (PIM), an ICMAT initiative that has already begun its fifth year, and also has the support of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Mathematics (IMI) of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
The project, coordinated by mathematician Robert Alexandru Croitoru Sandu, expands the "Los Pequeños Gauss" Mathematics Workshop, which has been held for six years in collaboration with the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council. The inauguration was attended by the local mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto, his education councilor, Rubén Martínez, Javier Aramayona, director of ICMAT, Andrei Jaikin, director of PIM, Gustavo Muñoz, director of IMI, and Martín Avendaño, from UCM.
Sessions will take place on Thursdays, from 18:30 to 20:00, at the Centro Cultural Las Fronteras, from October to April. Participants will be divided into two groups: one for students from 4th to 6th grade of Primary, with 15 places available, and another for students in 1st and 2nd grade of ESO, with 12 places. The Circle is open to any student interested in mathematics, not just those with high abilities.
The teaching material gathered over these years will be available through the PIM's problem database, which contains nearly 3,000 exercises and theoretical introductions.
