The Alcalá de Henares City Council has concluded asphalting and accessibility improvement works on Paseo de la Alameda, Andrea Doria street, and Gonzalo de Berceo street, responding to resident requests.

The mayor, Judith Piquet, accompanied by councilwoman Cristina Alcañiz, explained that the main objective of the project was to renew the asphalt on Paseo de la Alameda, Andrea Doria street, and Gonzalo de Berceo street. The work covered the entire roadway, including the repair of areas with subsidence or structural damage. Additionally, the traffic lanes of Almería street, whose surface was notably deteriorated, were also addressed.
Piquet highlighted that these works were a long-awaited demand from residents, as the condition of the asphalt was in a "terrible state." "With this project, we are responding to a historic demand from the neighborhood and continuing to advance our commitment to improving neighborhoods through investments that contribute to making a city more accessible, safe, and comfortable for everyone," stated the mayor.
In addition to renewing the road surface, interventions were carried out on the passages leading to dead-end streets on Gonzalo de Berceo street, also renewing the pavement and tree pits on the south sidewalk of this street, which was also considerably deteriorated. Sidewalk improvements were completed with work on the pedestrian crossing located on Santa Mónica.
All interventions on the passages have been adapted to current accessibility regulations, providing better access for people with reduced mobility. Finally, the road markings and parking spaces on the entire renewed surface and in Almería street have been repainted, including the required number of disabled parking spaces in the most suitable locations according to regulations.
Furthermore, nearly a dozen parking spaces have been added following a study to delimit parking areas on Andrea Doria street.
