The animal had a significant injury to one of its legs, making it almost impossible for it to walk. Upon receiving the alert, a police unit contacted the resident, who guided the officers to the roe deer's location in a hard-to-reach area, accessible only on foot.
After a challenging search, the officers managed to find the roe deer and coordinated the intervention with GREFA, a specialized wildlife recovery organization. A worker from the organization traveled to the site to assist with the rescue.
To ensure a safe transfer and minimize the animal's stress, it was necessary to immobilize it, cover its head, and secure its limbs. The roe deer was then evacuated on a stretcher to the police vehicle and handed over to GREFA for specialized veterinary attention.
“"The professionalism and sensitivity of our officers, as well as the importance of citizen collaboration to protect our wildlife, are fundamental. We also highlight the effective coordination with specialized entities like GREFA, which ensures the best possible care for rescued animals."
