The animal, suffering from a severe leg injury that hindered its movement, was located by a police patrol after a citizen reported its presence. The resident guided the officers to a hard-to-reach area, accessible only on foot, where the roe deer was found.
Following a thorough search, the police successfully located the animal and coordinated the operation with the Group for the Rehabilitation of Native Fauna and its Habitat (GREFA). A specialist from the organization arrived on site to assist with the rescue efforts.
To ensure a safe transfer, the roe deer had to be immobilized, its head covered to reduce stress, and its limbs secured. The animal was then evacuated on a stretcher to a police vehicle and handed over to GREFA for necessary veterinary care.
“"The professionalism and sensitivity of the officers, as well as the value of citizen collaboration in wildlife protection, are fundamental. Coordination with specialized entities like GREFA ensures the best possible care for rescued animals."
