The city served as a gathering point for dozens of veterans from the Army, the Navy, and the Air and Space Force, who paraded before the public and authorities. The mayor, Judith Piquet, accompanied by institutional representatives and the president of HECAPE, Félix Duque Cabanillas, presided over the event.
The ceremony included a moving tribute to the National Flag and a remembrance of those who fell serving Spain, from both the Armed Forces and State Security Forces and Corps. The day concluded with the awarding of decorations to members of the brotherhood.
“"We are moved with you as we witness the strong commitment, the deep sentiment, and the immense pride with which you continue to wear the emblem of first sergeant, so emblematic in the Spanish Army, and strengthen unity among veterans."
Judith Piquet thanked HECAPE for choosing Alcalá de Henares, emphasizing the city's historic and deep connection with the Armed Forces. "We are a city that maintains a historic and close bond with the Spanish Army, recognizable in many buildings, streets, and squares of Alcalá, as well as in the memory and hearts of its citizens," stated the mayor.
The mayor also highlighted the role of veterans in preserving military values, emphasizing their commitment and pride in the first sergeant rank. This meeting reinforces the city's military tradition, marked by homage, camaraderie, and recognition for service to Spain.
