Starting on April 6, Valdemorillo is kicking off the European Handicraft Days, an initiative aimed at showcasing the work of artisans. The Department of Culture and Tourism has put together a special program that includes workshops led by four local artisans, offering residents the chance to explore their creativity.
The first activity, on April 6, was a floral ornament workshop using dried flowers and recycled materials, led by Rakel Valero and recommended for ages 10 and up. On April 7, Patrizia Pierantoni taught how to make natural soap from used oil, in a session for ages 12 and up. On April 8, Sara Moreno led a macrame workshop to create plant hangers, suitable for participants aged 10 and over. Finally, on April 9, Inga Ivanova will lead a felt workshop for ages 10 and up, where attendees can create their own personal ornament.
“"The objective of these European Handicraft Days is to offer a different perspective on artisan creation, which is heritage, tradition, innovation, and diversity."
The grand finale of this week dedicated to handicrafts will be the inauguration of the international exhibition MIRALIBRO 2026 on April 10 at 7:00 PM. Curated by Equipo Mítico, the exhibition features 46 unique artist books, exploring the relationship between art and craftsmanship with cinema as its central theme. This sixth edition of MIRALIBRO joins the celebration of European Handicraft Days, promoted by Fundesarte and Oficio y Arte, highlighting the importance of handicrafts in Europe.
