Mayor Sara Hernández explained during the State of the City Council session that this initiative is a commitment to more accessible, participatory, and present culture in the city, making Getafe a place where artistic creation can naturally meet citizens.
The objective is to highlight and recognize local artistic talent, providing Getafe's creators with a stable platform to showcase their work, strengthen the city's cultural fabric, and establish public space as a venue for creation, participation, and cultural dissemination.
This space will be made available to sculptors and artists associated with La Carpa and Creadores de Getafe, offering them the opportunity to exhibit their works in an urban and natural environment accessible to all audiences year-round.
The Open-Air Museum aims to democratize access to culture, making art a part of the urban landscape. Its location in a frequently used public space will allow works to be spontaneously viewed by residents and visitors, without needing to visit a specific museum or gallery.
