Community of Madrid Celebrates Culture with Surge Madrid and Theatrical Premieres

The Community of Madrid becomes the epicenter of the contemporary scene this weekend with the second week of the 13th edition of Surge Madrid en Otoño, featuring premieres, residencies, and new artistic voices.

The Surge Madrid en Otoño festival continues its journey, taking over stages across the region with a diverse proposal encompassing theater, dance, and exhibitions. The cultural agenda stands out for the convergence of companies, creators, and artists from different generations.
On Saturday, October 3rd, the Sala Mirador will host the Emergentes (Emerging) axis, dedicated to five proposals from companies and emerging artists. Participants include Teresa Sanz with Bodegón vivo, Sol Bribiesca with Cuerpo Anfibio, Cristian González with Fracasar nunca fue tan sexy, Candela May and Macarena Regueiro with KILL OFF, and Colectivo La Nevera with Si esto fuera. Admission to these performances will be free until full capacity.
During this week, fifteen absolute premieres by prominent figures in the contemporary scene will take place. Mikele Urroz Zabala will present MENDIA at Nave 73, while Anto Rodríguez will stage Jardín, Apocalipsis y La familia (Addams) at the Teatro del Barrio.

At the Teatros del Canal, the Spanish premiere of Baco polaco, the new work by Argentine playwright and director Mauricio Kartun, will be shown from October 2nd to 11th in the Sala Verde as part of the Canal Hispanidad cycle. The play reinterprets Euripides' The Bacchae from the imaginary of rural Argentina in the 1930s.
