The Getafe City Council has announced plans for a new, modern facility in the Buenavista neighborhood, which will serve as a Civic and Cultural Center. This project aims to provide residents with access to various activities and workshops, similar to those already available in other districts, while specifically boosting the cultural scene with dedicated spaces for rehearsals and artistic creation.
Mayor Sara Hernández explained during the State of the City Plenary that the model for Buenavista is inspired by the Los Molinos Civic and Sports Center, currently under construction. "Just as we developed a facility in Los Molinos that includes civic center and sports installation services, the model we want to implement in Buenavista is that of a cultural space, particularly focused on providing young people with avenues to foster their artistic expression and enabling artists to pursue their passion with specific spaces," she stated.
With this new facility, Getafe will have its tenth Civic Center, expanding cultural activities across all neighborhoods, except for the city center, which already has other municipal buildings offering similar programs. Construction is currently underway for the Los Molinos Civic and Sports Center, another young neighborhood in the city.
This new infrastructure aligns with the local government's commitment to continue strengthening newer neighborhoods through robust, quality public services. The municipal investment in this Buenavista facility reinforces the City Council's model for the city, aimed at bringing culture closer to every corner, promoting neighborly coexistence, and ensuring equal opportunities for all families in Getafe, regardless of their residential area.
