The investigation began after the report of a theft of 18,000 euros from a property on a farm in Fuenlabrada. The money, in bills and coins, was stored in plastic bags inside a wardrobe.
During the property inspection, officers found signs of tampering with the crime scene, including marks on the access door and selective disarray in only one room. Investigations determined that the alleged perpetrator left the farm by bicycle with the money.
In the days following the theft, the suspect significantly altered his lifestyle, making purchases of designer clothing, getting a tattoo, and sending large sums of money abroad. Police believe he attempted to destroy evidence by burning the plastic bags.
At the time of his arrest, the man showed officers the stable where he lived with rabbits and chickens, sleeping on a mattress surrounded by animal excrement and using an outdoor shower.
Investigations also revealed that he worked without a contract, performing 15-hour days for surveillance and care of the property and animals.
As a result of the operation, the worker was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery with force, while his employer was arrested for alleged offenses against workers' rights and facilitating illegal immigration.
