The councillor, currently the second-in-command of the Socialist Municipal Group, communicated her decision via social media. In her message, she stated that she would formalize her candidacy once the party's internal process opens.
The councillor emphasized her commitment to the city and her aspiration to lead the PSOE's political project in the municipality. Her move comes at a time of internal reorganization, following the departure of significant figures such as the former mayor and former general secretary.
The councillor's potential candidacy could alter the landscape within the party, where the current general secretary also holds influence, backed by the regional leadership and a Government delegate in Madrid.
This announcement follows a period where the current municipal spokesperson's position was compromised after suggesting possible agreements with another political formation in a hypothetical motion of no confidence, a proposal rejected by both the local group and the PSOE-M general secretariat.
