The mayor of Velilla de San Antonio, Antonia Alcázar, has participated in the II Spain-China Mayors' Dialogue, held in the Chinese city of Yantai. This meeting seeks to reinforce cooperation and the exchange of experiences between local governments from both countries.
The Spanish delegation, led by Gerardo Pisarello Prados, first secretary of the Congress of Deputies, comprised municipal representatives from over 40 Spanish and Chinese cities of various political affiliations. Among them was Antonia Alcázar, mayor of Velilla de San Antonio, alongside mayors from other municipalities such as Badalona, Gijón, Puertollano, Montilla, and Alcoy.
During the working sessions, issues of particular interest were addressed. Mayor Alcázar was part of the working group "How to Save the Planet and Improve People's Lives," where the future of cities, economic cooperation, sustainability, and the ecological transition were the main focuses.
Furthermore, digitalization and smart cities, as well as cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries, were also present.
The event, promoted by the Cátedra China Foundation and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, highlights the cross-cutting nature of the initiative and the importance of institutional cooperation, consolidating itself as a meeting space for municipalities to address common challenges and opportunities.
