The police operation began early Tuesday morning after an alert was received about a break-in at a business on Calle Dalia in Móstoles. The alleged perpetrators fled in a car reported stolen, heading towards the M-45 highway.
An unit from the National Police's Citizen Assistance Group (GAC) visually identified the suspect vehicle and initiated a preventive pursuit. Upon realizing they were being followed, the occupants increased their speed and diverted towards the A-3 highway.
The chase reached its most dangerous phase on Avenida del Campus Sur, in Madrid's Puente de Vallecas district, where the fugitives' car was recorded traveling at nearly 180 km/h, far exceeding the 30 km/h speed limit.
During this urban stretch, the driver deliberately attempted to ram a police patrol car. The officer driving managed to avoid a direct collision by swerving onto the sidewalk in an emergency maneuver.
Following this incident, the suspects returned to the A-3 towards Valencia, then changed course near the O’Donnell area to join the M-23. Finally, on the connecting ramp to the M-30, the driver lost control while evasively maneuvering to avoid a civilian vehicle, violently impacting the road's metal barriers.
A National Police patrol car involved in the cordon could not brake in time due to the proximity and collided with the crashed car. As a result of this second impact, one of the officers in the unit required medical assistance for injuries of varying severity.
Despite the magnitude of the crash, both individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot, attempting to blend into the surroundings. Security forces apprehended them a few meters away, proceeding with their immobilization and final arrest despite the suspects' physical opposition and resistance.
An inspection of the crashed car's interior revealed a bag containing various tools allegedly intended for forced entry, including screwdrivers, a large mallet, and protective gloves. Additionally, officers seized a knife from one of the individuals and confirmed the driver lacked any valid driving license.
The detainees are a 39-year-old Spanish national and a 50-year-old Moroccan national. They are formally accused of alleged robbery with force and another offense against road safety for reckless driving.
