Podemos Parla has formalized a challenge against the stall allocation process for the upcoming Patron Saint Festivities in the town. The political party believes that the requirements established in the bases approved by the City Council itself may have been breached, referencing Decree number 2460 from the Delegate Council of the Area of Presidency, Communication, Culture, and Interculturality.
Podemos's exclusion from having a stall at both the recent Fiestas del Agua (Water Festivals) and the September patron saint festivities has led the party to label the situation as "unjust." They point out that the municipal Executive, formed by PSOE and Más Madrid, has not provided a satisfactory response, which, according to them, demonstrates a "lack of transparency, opacity, and obscurantism."
The challenge now focuses on the draw and allocation of stalls for the Patron Saint Festivities, as Podemos understands that the process may not comply with the regulatory bases. These bases expressly require that political parties and unions applying must have roots in the municipality and a registered office in Parla, with exclusion for those lacking a physical office in the town.
According to publicly available information for Podemos, the registered office of another applicant political party is reportedly located outside the municipality, with no public accreditation of a registered or physical office in Parla as required. Spokesperson Carla E. Valero stated that the challenge aims to ensure all entities meet "exactly the same requirements" and lamented that the City Council "has not even responded."
Podemos Parla insists that the issue extends beyond a specific stall distribution to the "strict compliance with the rules governing the use of municipal public spaces." Valero added: "If bases are approved, they must be followed. And if there are doubts about their application, the correct thing to do is review them, not ignore them. But we already know how the PSOE operates."
The party also questions the current allocation model, deeming it "questionable" as it may create imbalances and limit the participation of local groups. Therefore, they request access to the full file, an official review of all submitted applications, documentary verification of compliance with requirements, and, if necessary, the annulment of the procedure and a repeat of the stall draw.
Municipal sources previously indicated that Podemos was excluded due to a draw necessitated by an excess of applicants, recalling that other political formations have also been excluded in previous years, including the Socialist Party.
