Metro Line 6, one of the most used by residents of Móstoles for their commutes to the capital, especially by students and workers heading to the Complutense University of Madrid, will be the first to offer a partial 24-hour special service. This uninterrupted service will be implemented once its automation process is complete, with its regular start anticipated for 2027, and will be exclusively operational on weekends, beginning on Fridays.
This improvement in nighttime connectivity for Móstoles residents is significant, as L6, the circular line of the Madrid subway, connects with ten Metro lines, five transport interchanges, and four Cercanías stations, in addition to the South Bus Station. Although it does not directly connect with Metrosur, it does link to key stops for the Móstoles locality via bus and train.
L6 currently transports around 430,000 passengers daily and serves as a fundamental exchange hub within the network. Its uninterrupted operation on weekends will expand public mobility options during the early morning hours, coinciding with increased travel for leisure, events, and night shifts. For Móstoles residents, this extension will allow for extended journeys throughout the Madrid network during the entire night.
The measure will facilitate returns home during the early morning, offering an alternative to current combinations when the regular Metro service concludes. The operational status of L6 throughout the weekend will broaden transfer options and the continuation of journeys within Madrid before connecting with other transport means towards the locality of Móstoles.
