The free program Citizen Participation School by the Parla City Council has trained nearly a hundred residents and representatives from 41 associations during the past academic year. This figure practically doubles that of the previous year, according to data from the Department of Citizen Participation.
Over nine months, from October 2025 to June 2026, a monthly session was held, offered in both morning and afternoon to facilitate attendance. The workshops covered eight thematic blocks: the Citizen Folder and digital account, basic budget preparation, association statutes and obligations, the right to petition and the Transparency Portal, documentation for grant applications, project and report elaboration, group facilitation, and volunteer support for associations.
Active participation involved almost a hundred individuals, including residents attending personally and members of the 41 associations. The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Andrés Correa Barbado, stated that the sessions help citizens and associations in carrying out procedures related to the Right to Petition, the Transparency Portal, and the Citizen Folder.
The fifth edition of the school will be launched after the summer holidays. Attendees rated the training received with an average score of 4.6 out of 5. These programs are a common tool for municipalities to bring municipal activities closer to residents and community groups.
