The initiative, promoted by the MITECO, aims to provide accessible places to shelter from high temperatures. The political party's premises will be available from May to September, excluding August, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, plus some additional afternoons. A reading corner and a book exchange point are also planned.
The Climate Refuge Network, part of the State Pact against Climate Emergency, already includes over 180 spaces from the General State Administration and around 1,100 identified refuges across Spain. The ministry's map is open to incorporating both public and private spaces, although compliance with minimum requirements is currently under verification.

Ana González Mariscal, spokesperson for Más Madrid Compromiso con Getafe, expressed her satisfaction with the initiative, highlighting the importance of shared policies for urban climate adaptation. The party has also requested that Getafe's municipal refuges be integrated into the state map.
The organization advocates for increasing shaded areas, vegetation, and renovating housing to combat extreme temperatures. González Mariscal emphasizes that the response to climate change requires institutional action, not just individual habits.
In addition to its function as a climate refuge, the headquarters will continue to host cultural activities throughout the year, offering the space free of charge for exhibitions, poetry readings, or acoustic concerts.
